toyota camry 91 intermittent not able to start
I have a 1991 Camry that sometimes all of a sudden doesn't start. It does act like it has no power (no cranking from starter, no mechanical noises).
Sometimes it restarted after a few attempts but sometimes battery needs to be jump started. And the battery is new. Once it runs, it does not die at all. I will truly appreciate any advises. Thanks very much. |

Re: toyota camry 91 intermittent not able to start
2 possibilities
1. the neutral switch is bad. The battery voltage drops at there and can't activate the starter. 2. internal contact points of the starter are worn. |

Re: toyota camry 91 intermittent not able to start
Two other possibilities are:
1) faulty ignitin switch 2) faulty ignition relay I would put my money on the ignition relay. Have you tried using a jumper wire from the starter to the positive terminal on the battery? |

Re: toyota camry 91 intermittent not able to start
I betting with Proman. The starter (solenoid) contacts are a common problem and will give the symptoms as you described them.
See the post in the FAQ thread: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...86&postcount=4 Before you get too wild, check the battery, starter, and ground terminals for cleanliness and tightness. Have to be a good connection.
