What do you guys think of your Dodge Ram?
Hey i was looking at one, I found a Dodge Ram 1500 Truck 4x4 with 142000 miles on it and a 5.2 liter. It has some nice options included, all for 2,000 dollars. I was wondering do people like there Dodge ram or is there alot of problems with them? I talked to the guy and found that there is a tranny leak and i was wondering how much work would it be to fix that and how much money would you guess that it would cost. Im on a very minimal buget so i need something that will last a while. Thanks for all your help i appreciate it.

Re: What do you guys think of your Dodge Ram?
I love my dodge I bought it about 9 -10 months ago and am glad I did. I used to have a chevy blazer and that thign was a moeny pit (5 grand of repairs in 2 years). The main thing about the dodges though is soemtiems the trannies will give out pretty easy if you get the auto. I haven't ahd this problem and won't sicne I have a 5 speed trannyt :-). But as far as problems there isn't all that many you will have to look for they are built tough and can haul. BUt in ym area I would be questioning the price on the truck. even with 142,000 miles a 4x4 usually goes for above 5 grand. if the tranny is elaking with that price I would prob go to think it might need rebuilt or repalced. Sorry I don't have any figures to hwelp you out there though.

'94 4x4 with 360 and automatic. 191,000 miles, tranny rebuild at 185,000. owned it since it was new. But I wouldn't buy another one. It has structural problems in my opinion.

Damn dude thats really impressive. I got a question though for you. You said you had the transmission rebuilt. Its that hard to do or did you have someone else do it? Did it cost alot?

Re: What do you guys think of your Dodge Ram?
Love it / them. We had a '97 4x4 for 3 years. The only thing I had to do to it was front U-joints / brakes.
I still have my '84 W350 4x4, it's MY truck, I love it!! We recently sold the '97 and bought a '98 Q-Cab 4x4, V10 truck for my wife to pull her gooseneck horse trailer. I finally got to hook up the trailer and yank it around the block. This truck didn't even realize it was there. I'm happy. :-) Man that V10 sounds great!!!!! |
