Question anyone here used an exhaust pipe repair kit?

I am trying to patch a little hole in my exhaust pipe with a victor muffler/exhaust pipe repair kit..the instructions are not clear to me it comes w/ "repair material" (about one inch thick fiberglass looking stuff with one side shiny aluminum foil looking) sealer goop that you are supposed to put on it before you clamp it on and two large screens what I am not clear on is what side touches the actual pipe..shiny or the ffiberglass side? and do I need to use the screens? I don't knpw..I am lost if anybody has used something similar or can help that would be great thanks

Re: anyone here used an exhaust pipe repair kit?

well you have to get rid of all rust first then apply the goop aroudn the tape.

to be truthful its a waste of time and money and typically wont work around pipes
