88 hatch idle issues need help

ok ijust bought a 88 DX hatch and it was sitting for a while cuz the previous owner had got a new car. when i first got it it was throwin codes 10 and 14 but i got rid of tha check engine. the timing was slightly off but i fixed that too but it still wont hold an idle. i let it sit over night and started it and it was doin fine but befor it could even warm up it died out on me again. it has a new distributor, wirses, and plugs but it still wont hold an idle unless i have my foot on the gas. and it sumtimes makes a little pop sound from the intake. i was wondering if anyone has had the same problems or knows what i might be able to do to fix it. i need all the help i cann get, so thanks in advance to whoever can kick some knowledge.

pop from intake does sound like timing, but valve timing not ignition.

for the idle problems, have you tried to raise your idle? to do it correctly, you pull off the iac plug (it will throw a code, dont worry) set it between 500-600rpm. turn the car off. reconnect the iac plug, and pull your hazzard fuse for 10 secs. come back and tell me if it helps and we'll go from there.
