Question Clutch questions!!

I have a '92 Rodeo 3.1L 4WD. I believe it's a MUA manual transmission. I'm posting because I've gotten several 'ideas' as to what is happening with my clutch and want to clarify if possible. The clutch peddle feels a little soft but the problem is that it is difficult disengaging or engaging. I can't change gears and it is happening more frequently. The master cylinder retains fluid. The slave cylinder looks like it might be leaking or sucking in air- hard to tell though because everything looks a little oily. I've heard that it would be best to replace both the slave and master cylinders to fix this. Another said that the clutch itself is bad. but the clutch doesn't slip- just does not go into gear. Before I purchase parts is there a sure-fire way to ell what's going on here? Any recommendations???

tnx

Re: Clutch questions!!

definately try changing the slave cylinder and bleeding the system, its four wheel drive you should have the MUA transmission, which unforunately takes the more expensive clutch.

Re: Clutch questions!!

Thanks 94Twacker. I replaced just the slave cylinder and only replaced the fluid that came out. After getting the air out it worked fine! Hopefully, the master cylinder will last longer.
Good to go!!
