1999 Suburban IP harness wiring problem

Could someone please tell me if the wiring that goes to the radio, clock, CD, 2/4WD switch is a separate harness or does the whole IP harness have to be changed for a problem in this area?

We had the broken CD player replaced in our 1999 Suburban. Immediately after this the clock wasn't holding time and the indicator light for the 2WD/Auto switch wasn't working right. Mechanic said the new CD player wouldn't have anything to do with the clock.

Yesterday the clock, radio, CD, 2/4WD switch stopped working completely but didn't blow a fuse. (All on fuse #14.) About an hour later the brake, directional, haz., and dome lights, power seats, and keyless entry stop working. This was because a 50 amp fuse under the hood blew. A mechanic replaced the fuse and everything worked fine for about 15 minutes. Smelled like wires burning and things started shutting down again in stages, first the dash and then those other lights & power things.

Just for background, the same mechanic that installed the CD player also replaced the fuel pump and starter this fall. He said the first pump he put in burned out and fried the computer and he had to replace the computer AND put in a 2nd fuel pump. Bad news - $500 for fuel pump, $800 for computer. Good news - he only charged me for one pump. Also $350 - $400 for a starter. Is that what these parts really cost?

I had a different mechanic look at the wiring problem and he said some wires in part of the harness for radio/CD are fried, need new harness and I should also change the body control module. He also said that I don't have a new computer, that it has the original one that came in the vehicle. He thinks the problem came from the way the CD player was installed. I'm beginning to think my old mechanic may have done some sloppy work that caused me problems and may have overcharged me for parts, or worse, charged me for parts he never installed. How do I find out?
