WIP:2005 Polar Lights GTO
Well guys its time for another quick build like the firebird.
This time the polar lights 2005 GTO. I have a friend at work that is leaving and moving on to another occupation. He owned a 2004 Jet black GTO. He loved the car as I did to. (Especially the day he let me drive it) but after Katrina hit, and gas prices soared he could not deal with the price of High test Premium gas. Needless to say the GOat had to go. It was a terrible day for him. To make a long story short, he will be getting a new one once he settles in his new job that is very close to his home. I asked him what color he will get this time.... Impulse blue. I decided I am going to suprise him and build him a going away present... this model in my version of Impulse blue..... 8) This kit started life as the VERY DISSAPOINTING Drift paint scheme... The only resemblance this kit has to Rhys Millen's D-1 car IS the psaint scheme (What was polar lights thinking??) A bath of brake fluid and a few coats of primer later....... ![]() ![]() And now for the cool part. My version of the wild GM Impulse blue. Is it close? no.... but way cool anyways in my opinion. I dipped deep into the "uncle Stash" and pulled out a breathtaking hue of metallic blue called montego blue Pearlcoat. Followed by 2 part clear.... A gorgeous color in my opinion. ![]() ![]() I stripped the fairly well done stock wheels (the optional wheels were a joke) and since I am going for a stock production build the factory style will do. I shot the wheel with a duplicolor Nissan supersilver metallic and left them at that. I will highlite them with some wash a bit later as well as painting the centercaps. |

Prepainted plastic that I stripped goes in the diecast section? Freakmech-- The paint is PPG basecoat and PPG Omni 2 part clearcoat. Digitor-- Only mods will be a lowering job like the pic to make it sit right. Chyknees-- I got mine from Hobby Lobby. They come prepainted. I just stripped mine. |

Re: WIP:2005 Polar Lights GTO
Car is about 70% done. It needs suspension and powerplant put in place.
