1g to 2g motor swap

hey sorry if there is one about this already but i looked and did not see one.
ok so i have a 1995 tsi awd and i put my 1992 6 bolt engine in it. the car for the most part runs great and i have lots of motfications done to it. but i drove the car for like 2 days and nothing was wrong with it. then the starter went out on it and i replaced the starter and drove it a little and the check engine light came on and it studdered like crazy. but when i would slow down or stop it would run better. then i would get going like 3ed 4th 5th gear it would skip and start running like shit. i took the car to auto zone and it said random cylender misfire. i taped up all the wires and taped up the knock cencer which has just been sitting in the back of the engine the whole time. not hooked up to the engine. the check engine light still come on i was just woundering if any one has done this before and might know what wrong. oh and i have replaced the cam angle cencer and the coil box with ones that i know work. thank guys

Re: 1g to 2g motor swap

Yes, that is the expected RM misfire CEL. The magnus link I believe tells how to do the baro wire mod, but be sure you have an AFC or similar device to compensate for the change you make to barometric pressure so you can keep the motor I much prefer to just use DSMlink. It's a MUCH better solution, in addition to the ridiculous number of other functions it serves... Your car is a 95, so odds are you have the EPROM ecu. An AFC and logger will run 400-500 bucks, DSMlink is 595. A no brainer if you ask me.

I have also heard that unplugging the TPS will eliminate the RPM CELs, but I couldn't get it to work if I remember correctly. Plus, it will cause other problems since the closed throttle switch is part of the TPS on 2Gs, like not being able to go into closed loop idle speed control, etc.

Re: Re: 1g to 2g motor swap

hey thanks guys im a dumb ass. i was diging throw the wires that i taped up and there there to that i did not even see and i taped them and now it runs great. but my check engine light is still on because it says i has a collent sencer malfunction not sure what that is about i just figure i will play with the wires and i think it should fix it. oh and i would not recomend driveing at 145 down the free way the cops dont like it. haha.
