1991 Crown Vic p71
Ok, Hey ford guru's which tranny do these cars have..
I went out on a whim and bought this car at the surplus auction due to its clean.. But they had changed out the transmission and when they swapped it out they changed tailstocks.. Now I have no cable location only the digital output point.. Kinda ironic i find this. if its like the GM trannys I know "the 4L60 and the 4L60E" you can switch a 4L60E back to a 4L60 but not reverse due to the basis of the E "electronic celonoid" transmissions rely on the OBD-2 or higher computers. TIA

Is this is 91 or a 91 made for 92? A major change in body style and drive train happedned in 91. 91 would have a 5.0 and 91 made for 92 would have a 4.6 and would look like my car without the grill.

If it is a 91 you are suppose to have an AOD tranny. The AODE was not offered till middle of 92. so that is why 92 was the year they offered both the AOD and AODE.

my car has the same grill as yours, I beleive this is the 5.0ltr..
I know the drive select has Overdrive... I need to go to my storage area and get underneath the car to find out whats up. I acquired the car for 200.00, Its been pretty low on my priority list untill now, My truck finally blew its rearend out so I'm just prolly retire it like I should have earlier in its life. Its only a 4.3ltr GMC 1500.. with 260k miles.. LOL Yea its the original engine too! I think the only reason its made it this far is due to its a 5speed.
