Unhappy Help! Fuel leak.. Broken gas line...

It seems my fuel line sprung a leak.

Right under the drivers seat where the fuel line comes down from the engine, it comes out of the frame and from what I can tell there is a connector that changes from metal tube to plastic tube... Well right where the metal part of the tube (tube coming down from engine) there is a mounting clip or something that hold's it to the frame.. It's leaking right there !

Badly corroded, was able to make the hole much bigger by examining it with my fingers in minus 23 degrees Celsius weather here in Ottawa today.

Ok here's where I ask for the HELP!

Is there anyway to get this quickly fixed ? A Rubber hose replacement ? Or even a temporary fix until spring (BRRRRR).

The fuel line that comes down from the engine looks to be the culprit. Will it be hard to change. What part do I need ? Are fuel lines expensive ? (can't be that much... right!)

Or am I stuck towing it to the garage for repair. After I fiddled with the line gas pretty much flows out there unrestricted now !

So far as I can tell... With the van off no fuel comes out !? Of corse I didn't stay out there long to see if the fuel pump would kick in. Will the fuel pump pump fuel with the key off !? Man I hope not... I already lost a 1/8 th of a tank from this, it's still has 3/4's of a tank in her. (95 liter tank!!!)

Thank's Guys and Gals for any help you can offer and...

Happy New Year

Re: Help! Fuel leak.. Broken gas line...

The fuel line on my Venture broke in about the same spot earlier this year, ( during very cold, and snowy weather also, and I have no place indoor to repair it ) I was still able to drive it as it was a slow leak, and took it to the garage that usually does my work . The mechanic was able to fix it using compression fittings and the repair was very inexpensive. I was rather shocked, as in the past few years I have had to replace the fuel lines on 3 other vehicles, all GM, that I own,( I live in an area that uses A LOT of salt on the road in the winter so items like that rust out earlier.)In each case I had to replace the sections with line purchased from the dealer, ( large sections, preformed.) This was pretty expensive, and reinstalling the line was hard and time consuming, so I didn't look forward to doing this job as well. especially outside with the weather we were having at the time. I was surprised when he told me it was a rather easy fix this time, and we didn't have to get the line at the stealership. Hopefully, the same can be said for your van in that it will be an easy, inexpensive fix with compression fittings.
The fuel pump shouldn't pump fuel with the key off,and any fuel that does trickle out is what is left in the lines. With what you describe on how big the hole in the line is, it sounds as if you will have to tow it to a garage for repair.

A piece of rubber fuel line hose and a couple of hose clamps will make a decent fix in the short term as well. Cut out a section of the fuel line, flair the ends slightly, then slip the hose on and tighten the clamps.

Angry

I have two words...

Can U say...

ONE THOUSAND @#$@%^#$@#$%#%@# BUCK's !!!

to fix my leaky fuel line at GM.

Well actually $750.00 Canadian & replace a broken stabilizer bushing $200.00 more.

So give or take... Suck's to be me !

The bloody fuel line is three lines all together two sending, one return. They are all mounted together and go from plastic lines to metal lines... Can't be fixed, has to be replaced. The metal side of the fuel lines were pretty far gone... corrosion galore, rotting away although you can hardly see a rust spot on the under side of this van... looks brand new and has had rust proofing treatment done.

Damn

I'm not a happy camper.

Why did you take it back to the dealer? A good local independant shop could've done the work for a lot less. Ask your family, and friends for recommendations of garages in your area that you could check out.
