Unhappy Dome Light and Gate Ajar

Guys could anyone help me besides telling me to take car to garage? I have a 1999 Chev Trailblazer
Initial Problem
Domelight does not function correctly. Will not shut off
Symptoms observed:
Electronic controls are not enabled for 1 min after igition is turned off
Diagnosis: Door Switch
Action:
Checked frt pass......not connected
Checked Frt Drv....intermittent key chime with key in ignition. Bad switch. replaced with one from passenger side. problems still exist
Removed rear lift gate interior molding
Visual check.
removed main rear liftgate locking mechanism for inspection
Nothing obvious....2 plugs. how do you check the switch in this mechanism? Shorted bins together to see if I could jumper around switch while at same time observing dome light behavior. No change Reinstalled main latch locking assembly.
removed what appears to be the glass liftgate switch. Flat in design white in color. Locted midway up the main liftgate hatch.
Disassembled cleaned contacts runs and bent contacts so they would have better contact with runs. Reassembled. Jumpered pins to note domelight behavior. No change. Did notice rear wiper would come on when i jumperd pin 2 to any other pin so this switch does more than monitor liftgate glass. What is its function? It has 4 pins out of plug; what do these pins go to?
reassembled everything and tested. Still have problem only have an additional symptom of permanent GATE AJAR light illuminated panel.
In addition to these issues......The rear washer does not work. Where is the pump for the rear washer. Does it use the same for the front? When I try and use it, I can hear the pump motor but no fluid.........yes there is washer fluid in the tank. Does it have a separate tank than the front? Please help me out........wife was annoyed.......now she's pissed...........there is no love in my house right now......really appreciate any insight.....

as far as the washer, as long as you can still hear the pump running, trace the hose. they can sometimes come disconnected.

Re: Dome Light and Gate Ajar

my rear washer did the same thing. when I took off the back interior moulding to access the rear wiper motor, I found that the washer fluid line had seperated and was spraying fluid inside the back hatch between the body and the interior moulding.

as far as the dome light ... is your front drivers door sagging? look at the hinge and the pins. push it up a little. it may be sagging and not quite visible yet. can you make the "door ajar" light go off by pushing or lifting on the door?

Re: Dome Light and Gate Ajar

Sorry we couldn't help you with your problem. However, I don't think that that calls for you to start bashing the people on this forum.
Did you try the search tool to check out the forum and see if it is possible that this problem was discussed in any other thread??
Have you checked the dome light switch? Did you check the door switches with a meter to make sure that they were good? Do you have a Haynes or Chiltons or access to a manual that would allow you to look at the wiring diagram for the switches? Have you looked at the interior lamp control module?? Is it the rear dome lamp or the front dome lamp??

Re: Dome Light and Gate Ajar

I was going to tell you some suggestions till I saw you last post. I guess if you had tried to go to your local dealer and been a little polite one of the mechanics could have given you some suggestions for FREE during his smoke break. There are many threads posted daily and most normal people do not read them all and answer them all. Good luck with the truck but if you are as patient with your wife as you are with the forum I see a divorce in the near future. Peace
