kid in a BMW with a big ugly fat wing

I was on the way home last night, and I was in traffic at an on-ramp. The on ramp was metered at the time with the stop/go lights. I'm in the middle lane, and just before I get up to the line to wait for my light, I hear this "buzzing" noise coming from behind me.

Pulling up in the car pool lane, and stopping at the light, is a blue BMW 3 series (maybe 1995-1997). It has a HUGE aluminum wing on the back of it, and an exhaust pipe so big you could probably hide that cackling hen Star Jones inside. The kid driving has a backwards visor on. (oh i just love visors. it's like a hat that never got finished being made)

So he's next up at this light before me, and he starts revving his car. He then holds his rpms, and upon getting his green light, he launches, and proceeds to race himself. What's even more stupid is the fact that it's bumper to bumper traffic moving about 10mph on the freeway, which is a mere 300 feet down the onramp. So he races himself, probably loses, and then slams on the brakes as he approaches traffic.

My light turns and I go up the on ramp and find my way into traffic. Several miles down the road, as traffic lightens at a major freeway split, I find myself 2 cars back from the BMW in the left lane. (i can still hear his farty tinny exhaust) At the next interchange I take the right lane, and he jumps into the lane in front of me as well. As it turns to 2 lanes with traffic a ways ahead, I move next to him to see if he's gonna go again. I get next to him, and he downshifts, and creeps up a bit. Going about 75 I downshift to 4th, and start to creep on him a bit. He finally goes, so I floor it, and leave him quite far behind me. I shut down at about 110 and he was several cars back.

I hit the brakes as we come up to traffic, and he flies by me, moves in front and then puts his blinkers on. Sounds like I'll have to troll the bimmerforums and look for an "S2000 thought he could beat me" thread.

Ehh... around here you can pick up a mid 90's BMW for less than 10 grand easy, it'll have a bunch of miles, but that's not the point. 318's are really cheap and easy to find, and with only a 4 banger, they aren't hard to take on the free way.

Good kill and good story. Now just think, all you had to do was put your blinkers on and you would have won! Oh well, I guess you'll be ready next time.

I can't go to and from work without getting revved on. The milwaukee area has a LOT of rice, and a LOT of ricers willing to rev at anything they can to get a race.

M3 W/ B16 engine swap yo!

In reality its not that hard to make an E36 BMW look really good, but 25% of the time people can't figure it out. Good kill, poor bimmer.
