Progress: The Pimpin' Lincoln!
Hey all,
Here's my next project that I'm gonna be posting progress pics of. It's AMT's 1965 Lincoln Continental convertible Prestige kit. The wheels in the picture are NOT the ones that will be going on the car, but there will be something of similar diameter. Maybe some Hoppin' Hydros Diamond 20s or a set of chromed something or other. Also, the front will be level with the rear, as it looks like it's got a downwards slope in this pic. As anybody who's ever seen one of these cars knows, it sits level and looks great that way. Color is as yet undecided. I could do something simple, but if I find the right colors, I might do some kind of fade-away with a metallic or pearl over white or light cream. Doorhandles will probably be shaved, but otherwise, the body should be stock. The interior will probably host some leopard skin upholstery. I haven't decided if I want to use the rear fender skirts. If I do, the rear wheels will be completely invisible, but the car will look sleeker. What do you think? Comments and questions welcome! Phil |

That is one sweet car. I almost bought a 64 continental, it was cherry. I want a 66' though not a 64'. I think they look sinister in black. I just love the rear suicide doors. Either way the lincoln is PIMP!

Lincoln's are tight. Personally, I like skirts.

O boy, that'll look wicked! Hmm...skirts do look sleek, but if you've got awesome wheels underneath, maybe you should show them off.

Re: Progress: The Pimpin' Lincoln!
Yeah, where on earth did you find that kit? I've been half assed looking for one myself. This is going to be a mad hot project. Gorgeous, stylish car. Freakin' great. Go without the fender skirts, I'd say. I think they clutter the flanks of cars like this, actually.

Phil, This looks to be another awesome build.
I love those old linc's. I like your style. Here is a pic of a Linc I shot in Iowa: This was sporting 22's I believe. Very cool car to see in person. Again, Cannot wait to see your finished car! Chris |

Youve beat me to it, I picked up this kit at a show in Jan this year with the idea of doing what your doing. So will keep an eye on this, see where you go with it. BTW what you plan on doing with the stationwagon roof? My kit has the glass but no outer shell any chance of me getting it off you?

73SD, I already have that pic on my hard drive, along with a few other similar ones. It will have the same flavor as that, though. I picked up the kit at the local model show last weekend. I got it for a good price, otherwise I would have passed on it. I'm currently trying to figure out which wheels would look good with this car. I can't afford to buy a million different sets and see them in person, so I'm looking at a lot of pictures and trying to get info before I buy any wheels. Rest assured, the ones I get will be mad pimp and will suit the style of the build to a T. I'm still undecided on the skirts. I'll tape them on and get a feel for them for a few days. Thanks for the support, I'll try to keep you as up to date as possible on this one. |
