Svt swap or just tranny swap? Zx3

I have a 2000 zx3 with the zetec in it that was givin to me by my brother because he got a new car he owned it since new and it now has 107,000 miles I guess this was a lucky car because we have not had any problems with it watsover. It is my first car it has an automatic tranny in it and it is pretty fast for a 16 year old's first car but after I use it for a year or so and get better at driving I want to either drop in a svt engine and tranny or just change the tranny to manuel and keep the zetec. I need your advice on this because I think putting a svt engine in is pointless because I can make my zetec just as good if you ever changed the tranny from auto to manuel in a zetec zx3 please help me I need to know what other parts I need other than the tranny,pedal box,and the interior piecies for the shifter. Sorry for all the text I wrote have fun reading (:

The SVT tranny BLOWS the gearing it terrible unless you do hardcore autoX, and you dont have enougt power to take advantake of it unless you have a head package.
The SVT motor is also over rated, just get your head ported and a nice set of cams.

If you are set on a tranny swap do a Focus MTX-75 with a 4.06 final gear from a Contour MTX-75.





OH and its an auto even for a 6yo old, its not fast.

Contour? can't I just swap it with a focus 5spd?

the Contour has a better final drive gear.

Oh ok thanks for the advice. I want something that comes straight from another focus I just want to make it a little faster than what it is now. won't I have to do more custom work if I use the contour tranny? and I also deleted the other thread (Alteczx2)

contour is mtx75

the contour came with the zetec motor so it bolts on just like the focus tranny would

i believe the MTX-75 for the contour was in the SVT Contour(v6) not the zetec, i might be wrong though.

nope, mtx-75 was for all motors

Zetec's have a 3.82 FD, Duratec has the 4.06
