Question parking light stay on

1996 grand am, parking lights, front and back stay on even after car is turned off. I have a silent alarm on the car that flashes the parking lights if car is bumped, door opened etc. They do work properly but then continue to stay on afterwards. Could this be a sensor going out? Brake switch also affecting front lights? Not sure what to do. In the meanwhile-I've been pulling a fuse from the engine to turn them off. Strange thing is-they still flash when I close the hood so all I am doing is breaking the circuit that keeps them on all the time. I don't have much auto knowledge but willing to learn and try, so please, keep it simple. Thanks.

I'm definitely not too good at troubleshooting electrical problems, but it sounds to me like a wire is shorting out somewhere (touching somewhwere it shouldn't). If it is indeed hat, finding that wire can be a tedious task; particularly if that wire is way inside the dashboard somewhere.
I would suggest you take it back to whoever installed your car alarm because it can be a royal nightmare to find a shorted wire..... I had to do that once, and that was enough for me....
Hope this helps a bit; good luck. Watch for more help from others here who might have better info... Happy New Year, everyone!

Tommy
