Instrument panel lights are out 01 civic

2001 Honda civic EX 2 door

Problem: Instrument panel lights are out (DASH LIGHTS).

Fuses: Are good

My Instrument panel lights are out. I have idea if they are bulbs or LEDs. I have no idea on how to gain access to them. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I cannot see anything at night. Instructions, diagrams, and bulb size would be a big help. [email protected]

Honda in Marlton NJ wanted $140.00 to fix it.

Re: Instrument panel lights are out 01 civic

[I tried it myself and here is what I came up with.

Step 1: Use a short Phillips head to remove the two upper screws from the outer panel.

Step 2: Pull the upper panel away from frame.

Step 3: Use a putty knife to loosen 2 clips at the bottom of the panel.

Step 4: Pull the panel away.

Step 5: Remove 2 lower machine screws from the instrument panel.

Step 6: Remove the upper screw holding the panel in place.

Step 7: Disconnect the two cables for the instrument panel located at the top of the panel.

Step 8: Remove the panel from the housing.

Step 9: Located on the rear of the panel are twist bulb holders untwist black holder and replace bulbs.

Go slow in this project, any mistake may cause the housing to break or crack. I would not do this project if it is cold outside it may cause cracking. All of the plastic parts from Honda are expensive $60.00 and up. I used a soft towel to pad the steering wheel column while work in this area.

Project time for this first timer: 45 Minutes

Total cost $9.00 3 bulbs from Honda Dealership I could not find them anywhere else.

The bulbs look like very small 168’s but they are not LEDs
