I had replaced another auto with H.O. Chip that inproved gas mileage by 5 mpg and low end torgue great. Had no change on top-end. Has anyone placed an highoutput chip in the computer port of z31 and what kind of changes did they recieve. Thanks to all.

Re: Highoutput Chips

what do you mean by high output chip? something that fools the ecu into reading false info? personally i wouldn't mess with the ecu unless i know for a fact it's an approved reflash or solid AFC... which is still somewhat of a kludge method imo....

but hey like i said, i wouldn't mess with it until it needed to keep up with hp mods or new injectors or something...

Re: Highoutput Chips

The ecu has a chip that can be upgraded on some models to change throtle sensor, so on - They are most of the time known as High Output chips - Was wondering if anyone put one in?

Re: Highoutput Chips

the "throttle sensor" only senses idle or floored thats all they can sense allthough it may fool the afm some how......
and they are that way until i belive the z32 model
maybe wrong but i know all single over heads i ever saw for nissans vg series have been that way

Re: Highoutput Chips

No I mean it changes the mixture to the throttle body and sensor which changes fuel delivery - That is something the computer can do and cause better mileage as well as more fuel during preformance.

Re: Highoutput Chips

are you sure that it really increases gas mileage by 5 miles per gallon??? that seems really drastic.... do a test and write down your mileage when you have a full tank or half a tank, and than do the same thing when you have like half a tank (if your tank was full) or a 1/4 of a tank or practically no gas left, and tell me the mileage... I'm really interested to see if it works...

Re: Highoutput Chips

No - I did replace a H.O. chip into a 86 Blazer and got 5 miles more to the gallon. You coud hear the change in the idle - I looked into it after that and -TRUE - it changed throttle body mixture and the gave preformance on bottom end - No Top-end change
