cracked side mirror
The driver side mirror on my '96 metro is cracked. How is this thing attached? Someone suggested the cheapest way to fix it would be to take the cracked one, make a paper template, and to a glass place to get another one made. Anyone else run into this before?
Thanks... |

cracked mirror
I can't remember for sure but I think it was a Kmart in the automotive section that sold a thin plexiglass sheet that you could cut to size and stick to the mirror. It was mirrored on one side and looked easy to cut and install. Also cheap. I am pretty sure it was Kmart but it might have been an auto parts store. Anyway it would avoid the work of removing the whole assembly. and you could diy. Good luck. S.

Re: cracked mirror
This is an incredibly easy junkyard part, to remove the mirror part simply get your fingers behind the plastic and pull. It is attached with a ball in a socket assembly and should just pop out. Power mirrors are similar but a lot trickier to put back together and I havent seen the inside of one of the manual cable adjustable mirrors (lever inside the car), but I would suspect it's the same basic thing with an attachment for the cable.
Good luck!! |
