Might be your license plate or license plate light covers (mine rattle, not my trunk), but you'd know better than me for your car...
Use sound deadener, like dynamat Dynamat Trunk Kit $78 Dynamat License Plate Kit $8 It should quite down the rattle completely, but is very pricey Might Wanna do a search for sound deadener

or, in my case.. the little black plastic piece that holds the lights that shine on your license plate is never secured. its just wedged in there. i took mine all the way out, put cocking on it, and stuck it back in. nomore rattling

I just tried the caulking to see if it helps, - it didn't, my L/P rattles up against the trunk, or the trunk rattles out against the plate... I'm gonna put a foam pad under the plate... To see if this is also your problem GForce, while your system is on, go to your trunk and hold the covers, LP, and trunk in place to locate where the rattle is,

It is the internals to the trunk itself ... ie:the rods and things you see if you look into the spacing in the trunk ... sound deadening will help greatly ... mine rattled with no plate on and the plastic red piece removed off the outside until I figured out it was the internals ... sound deadening the complete trunk was required to remove almost all of the rattle

I had subs in my trunk for quite a while and it rattled everything from the internals of the trunk, to my rear tail lights, liscense plate, and spoiler.... the spoiler vibrated so much i was just waiting for it to jump off of my trunk lid going down the highway. I just tried to make sure everything was tightened down as much as possible to try to keep it from moving at all.... didn't help a great deal, but hey, i tried

Re: trunk rattle from bass
first screw everything down tight. i put a rag and tied it around the torsion bars that go accross the trunk. you cant see the rag cause it high. than move the latch down just enough to make a more firm seal. you can add the matts on the trunk and or every place else as you know everything sounds like its about to fall off due to fastners used all over to hold things down. great for wieght not for dum..dd..d..dumm dumm thump!!!!! hope this helps..

it can be many things. like someone said the license plate area is one place, typical of license plates to rattle. also saturns have a removable plastic piece on the back of the trunk lid, dohc have a reflector type while the sohc have a painted one). either one of those things could cause it, but for my car it was the license plate rattle off the trunk lid(i no longer have subs). it could also be things on the inside too. but dont run the car just turn it on and turn on the subs, and go in back and see if you can find where its coming from.

Re: trunk rattle from bass
Locations where you will find this: Trunk lid, dynamat helps with the points where the skin is not tight against the frame from spot welding.
rear deck where your speakers are this panel vibrates on top of the frame it sits on. behind the fold down seats, the small lip also vibrates as well license plate, vibrates horribly as well, dynamat plate holder works wonders |
