'96 motor....

I am in the process of purchasing a standard '96 Ranger 2.3L 4 cylinder. I was wondering if there was any motors with more horsepower that would fit in the engine compartment on the truck. Any and all help is appreciated.

the 4.0 6 cylinder, or depending on how bad you want it, you can make a small block v8 fit.

well, i dont know that much about motor swapping, ive personally never done it, but im pretty sure if you go with a 4.0 it will bolt to your existing tranny, but with a v8 you may need a new one, but its purely speculation. i dont know for sure.

Re: '96 motor....

if you swap motors you better get the trans and computor and all the wiring with it. every trans is geared different and each trans was designed for each motor in fittment and gearing.
