Tint

I was pulled over for having illegal tint, and got a Fix-It ticket. I have 10 days to get it fixed and get state inspection on it. From doing some research it will cost me $100 to get it removed professionally (i dont want to risk damaging the defroster lines). I really dont want to get it removed. Does anyone live in the DC-MD metro area and can suggest a gas-station that will *cough, cough* help me out? Thanks

Tint film is loosened with ammonia and soap solution soaking. The shops usually plaster newspaper onto the window and then keep it wet with the above solution until is comes loose. I assume you have it on the rear window. In California, the only limitations are on the front and front side windows which can not have any added tint. If you have it on the rear side and back window, you must have side view mirrors.

But that's the bottom line, isn't it? You'd rather cheat on the inspection and risk getting caught again for the sake of a "cool" (illegal) tint.

just FYI for anyone who is in the same situation, I called around to a few gas stations, and they all told me that I must get my windows inspected by either the MVA or Maryland State Police.

Well, in Jersey (and most of the North East) you can have any window tinted EXCEPT the front passenger/driver side window. If you are pulled over, the worse thing that can happen is taht you must take the front tint off, pay the fine and have the windows re tinted. Should be no more than $20 per window. As a matter of fact, I was pulled over last month and the cop gave me a ticket for my front tints. It was only $54 so I just paid the ticket and left it at that. But that does vary from state to state.
