Strangest Problem I've come across

This problem is something I have never come across and certainly never read about in the couple fews years I've been into imports. I have a '00 Si with a '97 GSR swap. Being that this is my 2nd Si but first with a motorswap, I'm still learning. Enough with that, at Normal idle I'm at around 1 grand or so. My big problem is that I leave the motor at idle for lets say at 15-20 secs the revs will start, while staying at 1 grand starts jumping to 2 grand. Like you were quickly tapping the gas but just enough for it to stop at 2 grand and goes back down to 1 grand but keeps doing it until I restart the car.

That would lead me to a possible bad O2 sensor but it doesn't stop there. My V-Tec is also disengaged and its increabably difficult to start driving from a stop, like the car is trying to choke out if you engage the clutch anywhere below 3300 or so. Anywhere below that it and it will start hoping like your teaching someone to drive a manuel for the first time. Thats the best I can describe it and I'm thinking it could be the throttle postioning sensor but I hope someone has had this problem or knows whats going on. Thanks

your idle should be at 700rpms.

adjust idle and test the map sensor and tps. check the iacv for a torn screen or clogged screeen. if its clogged............clean it. if its torn..............replace it. also, check for vac leaks.

also, why is vtec disengaged?

if your map or tps is fubared, you will most likely throw a check engine light. if any cels are thrown for those two, check wiring and physical condition. if its in the wiring, work your way back. if its mechanically the tps, replace the TB. if its the map, replace it.
