Supercar Under $30,000 Cad

I am currently in the process of designing and buildling a supercar for a budget of under $30,000 CAD. Now to clerify to somethings, at this point this project is only a CONCEPT. I have joined this forum with the intent to give my project some publicity. I understand that designing and building a supercar is a painfully long process. at this point in time i am learning to use tool such as "AUTOCAD" and "3D Studio Max". which are both programs by "AUTODESK". this project will take years to complete, and will prove to be a longer and harder process than i expect, and may also exceed my budget (hopefully not!!!).

I am now designing the body using the classic paper(alot of paper) and pencil, as well as "Autocad" and "3D Studio Max". I am also studying many books and literature in order to start designing my chassis(this is an interesting subject to study, quite a bit of physics envloved).

I am still drawing up concept models in order to start designing a model with the exact dimensions i need. My may of thinking is, If its not broken, dont fix it. so rather than use my own dimensions ie: wheel base, track width, weight distribution, i am going to base my car on a existing plat form. The acual car length, width, and hight may change based upon my final design. But the dimnesions and specifications on which the car drives on would remain the same. I have narrowed my selection down to four cars. I still have some blanks to fill in. If you could fill them in i would appriciate this. The stats i have are directly from the manufactures, and i would appriciate accurate information, thanks.

Here are the stats for the four cars i have selected:

**Saleen S7** **lamborghini Murcielago **
Length 187.93in(4774mm) 180.32in(4580mm)
Width 78.35in(1990 mm) 80.51in(2045 mm)
Height 40.98in(1041 mm) 44.69in(1135mm)
Wheelbase 106.30in(2700mm) 104.92in(2665mm)
Rear Track 67.32in(1710 mm) 66.73in(1695mm)
Curb weight 2950lb(1250kg) 3638lbs(1650kg)
Weight dist F/R 40% / 60% 42% / 58%

**Enzo Ferrari** **Carrera GT**
Length 185.15in(4702mm) 181.6in(4613mm)
Width 80.12in(2035mm) 75.63in(1921mm)
Height 45.16in(1147mm) 45.91in(1166mm)
Wheelbase 104.33in(2650mm) 107.48in(2730mm)
Front Track 65.35in(1660mm) ***UKNOWN***
Rear Track 64.96in(1650mm) ***UKNOWN***
Curb weight 2765lbs(1255kg) 3042lbs(1380kg)
Weight dist ***UKNOWN*** ***UKNOWN***

G2G more updates later

love some feed back

I guess you can first start by possibly showing us your best work as a sketch...then we will all know if you're the next prodigy. Of course not too much detail right

Re: Supercar Under $30,000 Cad

Maybe it's just me but nothing is showing up. Now, as for this, have you considered the Pagani Zonda as a candidate? Read engine, nice handling, fast enough to satisfy most anyone. Also, as for a body, if you were to put this in production, is it possible to have one designed to look like a Zonda if I was to order from you and give you 30K CAD sometime up the road...

Lol, can you tell I love the Zonda Also, if you don't mind I'm a major contributor to the sketching and drawing forum I and some of the other guys could draw up some body designs for you?

hey every one. sorry about that pic. i didnt realize i couldnt post attachments in this forum. im working on a web site thatw ill be up very soon. If any one is interested in designing a car from scratch there is some essential reading that i suggest(If you plan on designing a car from scratch for the first time, be prepared to read ALOT!).
Here are some books i pick ed, i read some of the twice because they were so good and i wanted to be as proficiant as i could be is some subjects.

here they are

3d Studio Max 7 Bible
1294 pages
Price $32.99
ISBN: 0764579711

Chassis Engineering
144 pages
Price $12.89
ISBN: 1557880557

Competiton Car Suspension: Design, Construction
Price $25.05
268 pages
ISBN: 185960644X

Race Car Aerodynamics
Price $23.07
270 pages
ISBN: 0837601428

How to Draw Cars Like a Pro
Price $13.57
128 pages
ISBN: 0760300100

Engineer to Win
Price $16.47
280 pages
ISBN: 0879381868

the total cost of all these books was 124.04 off amazon (befor shipping and fees)

Now, i also use Auto Cad in my designes, but i am also already proficiant in it, but i would recoment the AutoCAD 2006 bible, Very good book iv heard.

These books cover the basics of initial design sketches to the final 3D rendering. it also give you the platform in order to design a chassis, and set up things like your suspension. It will also introduce you to aerodynamics on all parts (and the hole) automobile.

My web site should be up befor the new year. (note; it is a flash web site, and will require viewers to have a flash plugin on thier browser)

Re: Supercar Under $30,000 Cad

??? Are you still uploading your pic?

That's a lot of reading. Honestly I don't think you need to read that much. The way I see it is, if you have a talent for design...The learning will come by exprience...this philosphy of mine might not make sense to you ...but that's how things happened for me. No one ever taught me how to make website, yet it's what I do for a living. I also do a little of what you want to do...and no one taught me that either. I'm curious to see what you've come up with. do you know how to upload pics? You could send them to me...and I'll upload them to my server.

hey, i absolutely agree with you. If you have the creative mind to create something like a car, than you dont need formal training, but im going to tell you. it helped me out ALOT. it definetly hepled speed up the process. and since you have to take into fact aerodynamics and frame/ body strength, knowing a little engineering helps. whats your email. ill send you those pics.

are those books for people who can't draw and want to design because i want to do engineering but i can't draw to save my life. and does anyone know if there's something like a manual for dummies on autocad because i got a free trial and it's really hard.

go to university of waterloo, they'll teach you how to draw in first year engineering, lol. anyways, get some pics uploaded somewhere so we can see, i'm anxious to see this thing.
