Kevlar Fibre??

Hi all. I was wondering if that's Kevlar Fibre here:

I start that kit just today. I almost finish the rear dif-llinks-brakes zone, and, i have seen that, and say, "Why not?". So, I applied the decal on the transmision tree. Maybe tomorrow I'll hook up some progress pics... (Anybody know some site to make that, beside www.photobucket.com?) But now I only want to know that...

Whichever, I don't see any kevlar fibre or any other type of fibre in there.

Or do you mean material?

Either an lightweight alloy or steel like 4130. It looks like it has some sort of tectyl coating on it to me.

Would love to know what process they use to produce the driveshaft.

At least I was right it wasn't kevlar

One good friend of mine is a New Materials Engeegner (Trento's Univ.) and work on C.F. applications. For his degree he design and develop a machine to produce those kind: basically is like a weawing loom but work radially, so it's the way to produce CF pipes. In the factory when he work they done a lot of stuff, from fishing equipment to bike exaust to structural item, often these're sandwich of kinds materials, like stainless core under some CF, Kewlar or alu mesh layers.

Strange: in bikes exaust they use an iron mesh under CF to allow rivets applications (terminals) it's weight is at least is similar than an alu exaust, the look not obviously

Definitively those color seem a protection stuff over carbon

I know how they produce C/F tubes and the like, I am referring to how the place enough strength in the tube to withstand the radial moments experienced under accelerations, perhaps they use a honeycomb inside the shaft similar to what Trek does with its frames.

I think so freakray. I don't think that composite material is capable of resist the stress from the acceleration, and, with around 500 hp, too difficult...
