OK..this is officially dangerous now!
My '05 is hesitating badly when I step on the gas during the engine warm-up period (cold idle) then surging. Almost got myself killed at an intersection today. Took it to my dealer and they claim they couldn't find anything wrong. Anyone had a similar issue? |

Re: Cold engine hesitation/surge
I have a 2005 Rav4 too, mine does the same thing. Up here in the Northeast, it gets cold. When I start the Rav up on a cold morning, the engine is idling pretty quickly. I always try and let it sit and warm up a bit before I start driving it.
I do not drive the Rav everyday (it is a secondary car for me) but I have noticed this. I would reccomend just letting it warm up for 3-5 minutes before driving. It's probably better for the engine/transmisson in the long run too.
