OnStar is for people that cannot help themselves. Jeep owners, as a whole, are self sufficient individuals that prefer to keep thier individual spirit. I don't think Jeep Owners would opt for OnStar even if it were available.

Does that Buick have a Low Range?

Talking

Just got my 2004 Lib. A few houses down my street there's a rendezvous. They stopped by to see my Liberty. I, to be nice, looked at there rendezvous. I wasn't impressed in the inter or exter. Sorry but it was just plain uggly and after talking to the owner, the thing isn't good for anything than a run to the mall or 7/11. I took him for a ride and he was very impressed and feeling cheated. He started talking about his onstar. I pulled out my cell phone. He mentioned the the navigation system. I mentioned I had a GPS (handheld). I didn't try to make him feel bad but when I took the jeep into a construction site and did a little "4wheelin", he was hanging onto the OSB and commented that he can see why his didn't have one. It would never need it. I did ask him how he found the time to clean all that glass.

sorry to correct you but,

:quote: Jeep rules.. ben making them ince Ww2 i think they have got it down :quote:

jeep has been bought by cristler cant spell for shot
so no jeep isent jeep anymore, i'll admit ww2 jeeps were nice but if i had to chooes today i would take a land rover.

4 years ago i made the mistake of leasing a jeep cherokee, figured it would be nice trail beeter, wrong!, when i did a mud hole crossing it sunk to the floor board and i had to climb out window to get a come-a-long and pull it out. if i did a semi-lateral ditch transverse, the truck creeked and flexed, and the door dident open right science then.

hate to tell you but when i jacked up my le sebre one on front quater and opisit rear quater the whole car went up and the doors opened, a unibody outdid the steelframe?

also for ride the rondeview (on propose) rides like a car! and can go throught snow anyday, i wouldent take it offroad anyhow, get it scrached, i think not.

hmmm I'm a Buick guy with a Jeep too...a *real* Buick....not the newer old people Buicks that *GM* makes...better visit a Buick web site and see how many *Buick* employees are left...I think they have about 1/2 dozen in design and that is it...btw, I have a 1970 Electra. A Buick.

I also have a Cherokee. Let me say I've driven the Rendezvous. Did you know that it's built on a *minivan* platform? SUV? I think not. Trail rate that and see where you stand. I bet it is beside it waiting on someone to tow you out...you also mention the Rainier...oh that would be the restyled, rebadged Oldsmobile! That may stand a better chance but it is a large class SUV so it would not be in competion with a Liberty or a Cherokee...maybe a grand cherokee...

but as far as I'm concerned Buick "SUV's" are the replacements for minivans and stationwagons. They are not designed to go off road, they are designed for bad roads. There is a big difference. I've taken my plyable cherokee through blizzards that snow plows got stuck in, over hillsides in the back country where people ride four-wheelers to get in and out of hunting cabins and let me tell you I'd never try either in a Buick SUV...you'd need onstar to have someone come and find you *if* there was cell phone coverage where you got stuck (yes onstar uses cell phone service! as well as satelite based GPS, it is not satelite phone service) because where I've gone you can't even pick up a radio station...

ok, enough of my rant, I love Buicks, but what they make now are *not* Buicks. They are GM's for old people. (see there I go again!)

Spellchecker is a wonderfull tool on a computer.

I agree with Bigfella.
The Buick is intended for a different market and a different buyer than the Jeep. It is unrealistic even to compare the two.

Its a minivan with some all wheel drive for low traction ON ROAD only. It is not intended, ever, for off roading or serious SUV use. The Jeep is.
Also the Buick has a lot more room inside, for Mom, the kids and all those soccer balls

A little history lesson for you.
Jeep has been made by Bantum,Willys overland/Ford,kaiser,AMC and finally Chrysler. So just Because Chrysler is the current maker doesn't mean jack. Second you show me a buick thats in the ARCA(American Rockcrawler Assiation(?)) And you may have some ground to stand on by your comment. Also show me a single aftermarket lift kit for your Buick!!!
So your telling us that jeeps aren't jeeps anymore since Bantum(The first maker of the jeep) is no longer the maker?

Re: buick rendivious a beter suv

If they are going to place a misnomer (SUV) on it, can't we spell it anyway we want? :-)

Aside from the fact that Buick spells it R-E-N-D-E-Z-V-O-U-S just like the word in the dictionary! Spell checker is a great tool. :-)
