OK problem with engine was solved. Now I would like to fix a mysterious noise that only occurrs when going over 55 mph. Kinda sounds like a cable wraping and banging on bottom of truck. This has been going on for quite some time. I have looked all under the car and nothing is standing out. You can feel it hitting the bottom underneath your feet when driving on highway. Thoughts and feedback or similar experiences would be helpful.
Thanks Kevin |

Re: Mysterious Noise-1995 4/RUN-THOUGHTS?
Check for a piece of wire/cable or similar caught in or wrapped around one of your drive shafts. If may lie flat when you are not driving and difficult to see. If may unwrap after a certain speed.
Particularly check the u-joints and cardan joints.

Re: Mysterious Noise-1995 4/RUN-THOUGHTS?
V6? That noise might be your heat shield on the crossover exhaust between the firewall and heads.
A trick I used to test but lasted for two years was to tightly pack a wad of steel wool between the sheild and pipe on the side that had broke lose (drivers side). The spot welds are too few and too small. I brazed the bageezus out of it when I rebuilt the engine. Good luck and repost if you find out what it is, I'm curious. |
