99 Cougar RPM unstable when cold

When we start the car when cold it is reving up and down like a rabbit. Even goes so low it tries to die. When warms up it seems to slow down or stop. Any ideas?

iac stands for idle air controle it is located on the backside of the intake manifold on the driver side. if your standing in front of the car looking at it you will find it about 6 inches to the right of the ignition module there are 2 bolts (10 mm) i think, attaching it to the mainfold between the manifold and the firewall. my car had the same problem and it ended up beeing the intake manifold gaskets (not trying to scare you but it is something to think about if that doesn't work) the iac is about 50 bucks e-mail me for more at [email protected]
