New Motor Q's

Ok, me and my boss are soon to be building a new motor for my truck. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the motor in my truck but I want more performance. Ive been thinking about what Im gonna do to it and this is what Ive come up with so far: We're gonna use the block thats in it now but rework it. It's gonna be bored .030 over and Im gonna put flat top pistons in it. Im also gonna put Vortec heads on it along with the GM Performance Intake Manifold thats set up for the Vortec heads and TBI. Im also looking for another TBI setup for the top other than factory. Does Holley have one or should I just rebuild my stock throttle body and put 454 injectors in it? Also Ive been told if I put a bigger cam in it thats its gonna throw my computer off and my gauges will not work. Is there anyway to get around that? Also, we're gonna build this motor for 350-375hp. Any advice or tips will be appreciated!

Thanks

Re: New Motor Q's

well, im sure you already know this, but be careful not to get too big a cam for your application. you can get a huge cam, but it wont do much good if the other parts, (heads, intake, exhaust) cant keep up with the high flow of the cam. sounds like what you have is pretty good for a truck setup... i would either stick with the stock cam, or i would get an RV cam or a performer cam from edelbrock that is made for low to midrange power, ideal for trucks.

again, im sure you know this stuff, just my 2 cents lol. i bet you can just get a good torque converter that stalls high and build a real lopey engine and get sweet power lol

Re: New Motor Q's

yeah i cant wait to get it done. I'll be ordering my intake manifold and the vortec heads within the next week or some but the engine probably wont be ready until Febuary or so. Im gonna put the Holley TBI unit on it too. Im not wanting a huge cam but Im gonna get whatever it takes for the performance I want, probably an RV cam like you said jveik. I definately want the loping sound though haha. People always look when you have somethin like that. But I'll let yall know how it goes.
