I managed to score all three of these off Ebay, amazingly at a decent price! Even though they are highly collectible, I will fearlessly assemble all of them.
![]() The `82 is sentimental for me. It is the first kit I built, way back when it was still on the shelves as an annual release. I was only in second grade at the time, and really into Knight Rider. The Firehawk is a really rare one, and is the only Firehawk kit. As far as I know, this is the only Firehawk in miniature, die cast or kit, that you can buy. They are bringing a decent premium on Ebay compared to what they were worth on the shelves. The big find is the `79 Trans Am. Bidding is insane on this kit, regularly approaching $200 for a sealed kit. (see here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1 ) Now, there is no way I can overstate the hugeness of this kit. The body stretches the entire length of the box, touching each side, without the front and rear bumpers. Once the bumpers are on, it should be about 2-3 inches longer than the box. Merry Christmas for me, but I feel a little guilty as I haven`t bought anything for anyone else yet. |

It`s really hard to believe, but that is the actual model on the box cover! I thought from the pictures that they took a picture of the real car and put it on the front! |

I took the `79 kit out of the box and took some pics:
I already double-ziplocked the decals. That bird is going to be a chore to not tear. It`s quite big. The tires are very realistic with no flash whatsoever. The chrome is perfect. I thought this was interesting. They kept the aluminum portion of the dash on a chrome tree (excellent vent detail), which will make it very easy to detail. The surface texture looks correct, compared to my uncles `80 TA. The alternator is nicely detailed too. I put the body next to the 1/25 Yenko model. The interior, seats and carpet, have very realistic texturing. Another pic of the body. I placed the front end on it, and let it rest on two of the wheels. Proportions look good. I really cant wait to finish it. Overall, this is a very detailed, high quality kit. This is surprising since it is vintage 1987 from Revell. There are some really nice touches they include. Like the side marker lights that are seperate clear items. And the turn signal and tilt wheel adjustment arms that fit inside one half of the steering column before it attaches to the other half of the steering column, which should make it look very realistic, since this is the way real cars are. There is a little weirdness though. The engine block halves have the oil pan molded to each half. |

Re: Looky what I got !!! º¿º
Congrats Hawk!!!
I've still got my 82 Trans Am, probably one of the better ones they did. The Lindberg Hawk I had and sold. Now I wish I wouldn't have, I wanted to do a Hurst Edition. Be prepared to do some work on that 79 kit (yeah, I've had that one too). The nose piece doesn't fit right by just attaching it. You'll almost need to find a way to pin it with either toothpics that have been cut up or drilling and using plastic or metal rod. Something about the front end not coming out of the mold right. At any rate, when that 79 is built, it is awesome and very realistic looking. Good Luck!! Chris |

Re: Looky what I got !!! º¿º
Oh yeah, I was curious, do the Hurst Edition Trans Am's built considered Firehawks? I though that SLP outfitted those cars too.
If so, Racing Champions put out a 1996-97 version of the Hurst Trans Am. Let me know if you have that or not. Chris |

Do you happen to have any pics of it built? I have no idea how many of these kits they sold, but it has to be very few. I have been googling, and cant find any pictures of one built. |

Actually, I believe Lingenfelter made the Hurst Trans Ams. If I remember correctly, they had the WS-6 hood, which is slightly different from the `93-95 Firehawk hood. I don`t have the Racing Champions model, but I`ll do an Ebay search. |

Ahh, that was it hawk! Lingenfelter.
So yeah, the Racing Champions car is a Hurst Lingenfelter, not a Hawk. Sounds like you have the front nose piece handled. Good plan and way to stay ahead of the game. I haven't any pictures of the one I had. I sold it as it was in a dissaray of parts when I moved. Chris |

That big bird is gonna be hot. Be sure to include us on the build (you'll probably need some encouragement when it comes time to polish, eh?).

Wow those are that valuable? Ive still got the Firehawk in the package, never seen the 82 before, and ive built 2 or 3 of the 1/8 scale along with a 1/8 corvette.
Here are some leftover wheels from a newer TA along with a brand new box with the 80s TA
