?'s about 1st gen firebirds
I have a 69 firebird that I am going to attempt to restore. I was wondering what parts from different years are interchangable. Mainly body parts from the front and the rear. I need a new tail panel, tail lights, front fenders, hood, valance, grille, and pretty much all of the lights- tail, head, side, and blinkers. I was told that a lot of the first gen camaro parts would work on a first gen firebird. As well as a few other gm models. Thanks and if anyone can help me out with places to get parts that would be great.

Re: ?'s about 1st gen firebirds
The hood is the same, '67-'69 Firebird. Nearly zero body parts from Camaro ("poor man's Firebird") fit. The rest of the stuff you listed is unique to '69.
Performance Years and Ames Performance are your two best sources for Pontiac-specific parts. Year-1, The Paddock, OPGI, Classic Industries, etc. are all "multi-model" companies, that supply mostly Chevy parts. They'll sell you stuff that "fits", but isn't Pontiac. Good deal, gettng a '69! I have one, myself, on the slow road to restoration (time and money permitting). It's a 400/4-speed car. What's yours? Jim |

Re: Re: ?'s about 1st gen firebirds
Im not sure what all it has in it. I picked it up for pretty cheap. The guy who sold it to me said that it origanily had a 350/400 in it but he gave it to his son and his son talked about putting a 400 in it. He ended up taking it away from his son for some reason and it had sat at his house for 2 years before I bought it. Runs real good just needs a major tune up. I havent had it long and I have been real busy. Hopefully sometime soon I will be able to check everything out. Like I said I am pretty new to this older car stuff so if you have any tips or info that would help me out that would be great.
