To get to the problem the drive shaft stopped spining. I think and hope it is the torqe converter. Does any body know how hard and long it takes to pull one out and put a new one in? It has a 302 and a c4 tranny and it is 2wd.

Assuming it is the torque converter, it could take from a few hours to all day. It depends on the tools and equipment u have, if you have access to a lift, if you have a trans jack.........ect. You might want to take the pan off, and check the filter, and check for metal shavings and debris. Check the linkage and make sure its moving in the trans. Be reasonably sure its the converter. Thats alot of work to go through, to find out the trans is bad, and you could contaminate another converter with debris. If you do take it out, take it to a trans shop and have them check it for you. When you put it back, you have to install the converter in the trans, and stab them together. Rotate it as you push it in, youll hear it clunk 2 or 3 times, and go back farther each time, untill its in past the face of the bellhousing. This lines up the pump drive, and rotor and stator splines. Dont try bolting it to the flywheel, and stabbing the trans. The odds of everything lining up are almost nil. If you try it youll push the pump gears out the back of the housing, and probably ruin the neck of the converter. Good luck
