Suspension

I have a 1986 635CSi, it runs pretty well and i have taken it autocrossing, but it handles like a boat with all the body roll. I want to know what the best affordable shocks for autocrossing would be, i would especially be interested in adjustable shocks, but i haven't been able to find any. Also, i hear a knocking noise in my front suspension whenever i hit a bump. Does anyone know what part of my suspension is making that noise?

The knocking could be strut tower mounts or weak suspension bushing. In some cases its the strut itself.

Larger sway bars are available to reduce roll and Bilsteins Sport struts are the way to go.

Bilstein Sports would be better than the Bilstein Heavy Duty Shocks? I don't care about ride comfort, i'm 18 years old lol. Thanks for the Advice though and i think its probably the bushings in the front making the knocking noise. Yall will probably be hearing from me alot in the next couple of months because i'm working on getting my 635 in the best working condition possible before march. I'm thankful for any advice or info anybody can give me about my car. This 635 is a SWEET MACHINE.

Heavy duty is the entry level Bilstein, Sport is the mean stiff one.

allright, i will try to pick up some bilstein sports now, but i'm not sure what sway bar i should get, i only want a sway bar for the front, not the rear, because that is what is allowed for my autocrossing class. you've been a big help so far, thanks.

Bav Auto has a nice set. Perhaps you could contact them to see if they would break a set for you.
