1997 Crown Victoria PI

I am looking at purchasing a 97 Crown Vic PI. i was wondering if there is anything i should be looking for, as in engine problems, suspension, anything that usually goes wrong.

i also was wondering about a couple things on the police interceptor package, ive heard that they have a 200Amp Alternator, is this true, also what other improvements o thay have over a normal crown vic? i havent been able to find much information on the web.

And is the '97 model OBDII compliant, it should be but im jsut checking.

The ball joints and front suspension bushings are the weak points on the front suspension. Usually engine problems are mostly the composite intake cracking, DPFE sensors, and MAF sensors.
The 200 amp alternator was not commonly available until 2003 or 2003 on most CVPI's. 97's had a 130 amp stock.
Yes it is OBDII compliant.
If the vehicle has had good routine maintenance it should be reliable for quite a while. Good luck.

Re: 1997 Crown Victoria PI

There is a company in Virginia that makes a retro-fit 200 amp alternator that will bolt on. I don't know the name or site though. If I can get our parts dept. to loosen up on info, I will post it for you.
