Tach signal/ hookup location??.. 98 TransSport.
I think it is in the.. "Powertrain Control Module Located On Driver Front Of Engine In Air Cleaner Housing". White wire.
Is it actually IN the air clearner housing ? What/where is the best location to get a wire thru the fire wall in these vans !? I'm just about finished installing a remote starter and starter kill relay, only thing left is the tach. wire hookup. Compared to my ol' 92 plymouth voyager (dead in the laneway, 10 years of decent service tho) working uder the dash is a breeze on these vans... roomy, everything layed out nicely, took my no time to install. Also did the burnt out light in my radio while I was in there. Cheer's |

I did a remote start on my 97, and I tapped into my tach wire in the big fat wire loom that's attached to the upper radiator support. If memory serves correctly, that branch of wires connects to the equally big fat wire loom that runs up and over the top of the upper intake manifold, kind of if you drew an imaginary line between #2 and #4 cylinders...you can't miss it. I can take a picture if you can't find it. |

Hello woscarr, I have found the best location to run the tach wire is through the main rubber boot going into the engine compartment, but be carfull not to poke any wires. The TACH wire is in the MAIN HARNESS on the DRIVERS SIDE of ENGINE ON TOP, you will be looking for a PURPLE/WHITE or WHITE wire, good luck.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
I'll be working on it again tomorrow. When I put the radio back in after replacing the bulb ($11.03CDN GM parts counter... not one word of a lie!!) it still didn't work !? Put it back on the bench and discovered the contact points on the circuit board were finished. So I made my own, then after connecting them to the tracers again and verifying a closed circuit I sealed it all in hot glue... Works ! Cheer's |
