P0128

Hello all,
I have been diagnosed with a P0128 Coolant Thermostat (Coolant Temp Below Thermostat Regulating Temperature)

I am going to change the thermostat tomorrow because i am pretty sure that it might be just that, it was 7º here yesterday and it took for ever to warm up enough so i would not freeze in the car, my question is what else should i look at as the cause of this problem?

Death-Cool.

Oops, I mean Dex-Cool.

Replace it all if it's still the original stuff. 5yr/50k miles is the suggested replacement (I think the General suggests 100k miles, don't listen to him)

Personally, I'd replace it before then, others will chime in.

Again, Dexcool is not worse or better than any other coolant on the market.

People that have problems with it in most cases haven't kept their maintanence properly up, have failing parts or haven't checked the cooling system often enough.

One thing you need to do is replace the bad stock rad cap with a stant or something NOT AC Delco.

And don't blame the coolant for the thermostat.

How old is your truck?

GM is not making is seem to be the best. It is the most compatible with their gaskets and seals in the cooling system.

When the cooling system is properly maintained, this coolant does perform and reach its 5 years.
