Rear brake drum removal

I own a 96 Talon (base, fwd, 2.0 5-speed ect..) and am having a heck of a time trying to get the rear brake drums off. It seems the slot for the adjuster wheel is blocked by the knuckle (where the control arms and similar mount). I can remove the plug, but cannot figure out how to operate the adjustment wheel. Having the suspension fully compressed (as much as possible with a floor jack), or fully extended makes no difference. Any suggestions? I realize I may be missing something simple here, but just don't know what it is. Btw, I am removing the drums just to replace the brake pads.

Thanks

I could not get any tool to reach the adjuster wheel. I did find out that the two threaded holes in the drum work great when screwing a couple of 8mm boltes into them. Pushes the drums right off. I had no idea what those holes were for.
