catalytic convertor

On my 94 RS i recently had a leak from the front flange on my cat. I take it to this mechanic and he cuts the flange out and puts a piece of pipe in its place and welds the joint. I get the car back and now the cat rattles and makes noises like there is something rattling around in there. If you put your hand on the bottom of the cat and push up on it the noise goes away. The performance seems to be effected somewhat and there is really not much of a diffrence in gas mileage. But, That noise is freakin annoying! Time for a new cat? And anyone have an idea where i can get one fairly cheap?

Thank you captian obvious! Just kidding man. Anyway, yes, I would get a new cat. You can get one on eBay or from any exhaust shop. You should go back to that place you got that piece welded on, I bet they would have some or could order one.
