Re: lowering an SL

I thought someone would answer but since no one has, I guess will. StealthModifier just recently put on Intrax springs and he said it didn't lower a whole lot but about 1.2 in the front and 1 in the back. Musashi and I have Eibach's on ours--he replaced his shocks and has the KYB GR-2 Gas Shocks. It's a nice setup and I'm gonna be heading that route as well when I find time to get down and actually replace my shocks (I have all the stuff already....it's just been raining a lot). It'll disable the ECS feature on our SLs but since I don't ever use it anyways, it won't matter.

Oh yeah, and the drop will look way better than the stock wheel gap!

Re: lowering an SL

yea. i only had a 1.2 drop in the front an 1 in the rear. but mine is a non ecs. my friend with a 95 SL. an ecs of course, he got more of a drop than me. i would have to say about 1.3-1.5" drop front an back. but i will see how bad my alignment is off tomarrow mornin. i finally found a place that can align it for me. all the other places couldnt drive it up on the ramps. :\

Re: lowering an SL

Yeah, it actually took me a long time to try and figure that out too. Musashi was explaining to me that you'll only need the camber kits if you drop over 2.2". But StealthModifier, post back after your alignment test.

Re: lowering an SL

went for an alignment this mornin.. an they couldnt get it up on the ramp.. :\ i seen them, they tried backing it up on it an the back bumper was not even a half inch from hitting... so they drove it back out an parked it. came up to me an asked how hard it was to take off the front bumper.. i said the bumper doesnt come off.. well the base price on all wheel alignment is 80$... an for them to get it up on the ramp was 100$.. well now hes saying he has to do it on the floor an its gonna cost 136$ .. does this sound like too much for u guys? cuz im not sure if hes trying to screw me, if so i can take it to a place that i know can do it for 40 bucks... but im not sure if its one of them things where u get what u pay for.

Re: lowering an SL

That sounds like a lot to me. Musashi was actually telling me that some shops would say that because your car is lowered, you have to take it to a "specialty" shop and they usually charge 2 times as much. I'm assuming though that your problem is because of your kit....either way, $136 seems high for an alignment job. But that's just me....
