Power mirrors not working

I have a problem with my power mirrors. They decided to stop working. I have checked the fuse and it is good. I also noticed that the buttons do not light up any more, just the mirror control. could it be the switch. I have a 2000 chevy astro. Any help would be great thanks.

Re: Power mirrors not working

I would still try a new fuse. Oddly enough, I've had some go high resistance.
Both mirrors died at the same time? Not likely both motors would do this.
After the fuse, look for bad grounds. Sometimes it's easier to just add another (proper) ground.
I've had wires break from flexing thru the door hinge area.
Good luck

Re: Power mirrors not working

Use a test light to check for power at both ends of the fuse. (reasonably high current lamp, like a turn signal lamp)
Then, if you don't have a manual, it's a bunch of tracing....
Check for chafe thru the door hinge area.
Black wires are USUALLY grounds. Sometimes they rust (bad connection) where they're screwed to the chassis.
After that, I think i'd suspect the left/right switch. That's common to both motors. I wouldn't think that 4-way switch would have all contacts break at once.
Maybe someone else will have some input

Re: Power mirrors not working

I just took the door panel apart and press the connections together. They started working. Afew months ago I have the window motor replaced. I hope this takes care of the problem. If not it is back to square one.

Re: Power mirrors not working

Well last night I went to dinner with my wife and kids. My wife drove the van and she was able to move the mirrors. I noticed that they were not illuminated. So this morning I got up early and tried adjusting the mirrors and had a hard time, but eventually they did. Could I have a bad switch? If so how much do they cost, and would I have to replace the power windoe switches as well? I have had so many electrical problems with this van. And have had switch lights go out like the rear wiper switch and the rear A/C switch. Help!!!!!!!

Re: Power mirrors not working

I thought of mentioning the connectors, but they've gotten better over the years....
I've never had mine apart, so i don't know how integrated the switches are, (as to replacement of just the mirror swiches)
Since you've had trouble with the connectors, try spraying (internally) with a cleaner/lub, (WD-40 or so) maybe their corroded. you can also do this to the switches.
You might try a wreckers for a replacement swich.
