Options for a 97 with bad engine

I've got a 1997 Escort that doesn't run, otherwise in great condition. I've called a couple junk yards, and the prices they quoted were in the $50 range. eBay seems to show that $100 might be possible, but I'd have to pay a little for the listing. I'd really like to get rid of this car, and I don't have anywhere to store it to dismantle and sell as parts.

Any suggestions?

I'm just curious what happened to the engine?

They say it threw a rod.
