I have a 95 Blazer LT 4.3L W-engine with 63K miles on it. I just bought it in late December and have decided to do the usual updates, like making sure the fluids are all up-to-date.
All has gone well until I had a shop do a complete Trans fluid exchange, replacing whatever was in there with Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF. After the fluid exchange, all was okay, but (stupid me) I decided - out of an abundance of caution and a general enjoyment of tinkering with mechanical stuff - to go ahead and change the transmission filter, too. First, dropping the pan was a nightmare. My model requires that the tailshaft support framing member be removed AND that both exhaust manifolds be disconnected from the head pipes before the pan will clear the transmission filter. Once the filter was out, the filter's neck seal (a metal jacketed, rubber-lined sleeve that the filter fits in) wouldn't come out. I wrestled with it for over an hour, trying not to tear up the transmission in the process of removing the stupid seal...I should have left it in place! FINALLY I got the old seal out, the new seal in, a new filter in, the pan on, the pan bolts re-torqued, and the truck more-or-less reassembled (the passenger side exhaust manifold to head pipe gasket still leaks, and I have to work on it again). I added more Mobile 1 ATF to bring the fluid level up to full-cold. THEN I put a code scanner on the truck just to make sure all was well. It showed twp "Pending Codes" (whatever that means) P0700 and P1100 I DO NOT have a SES light, and driveability does not seem to be affected, but driving the truck for a few hours after clearing all memory codes does not change the situation. When I re-scan the ODBII (Generic Setting) I still get P0700 and P1100. What experience do you guys have with these codes, and should I be concerned? |

Re: 95 Blazer Transmission Codes after filter change
P0700 - Transmission Control System (MIL Request)
Reset your computer by pulling the negative battery cable and the two ECM fuses for 15 minutes or so to clear them and to reset the transmission computer. As for the P1100, were you using an AutoXray scanner to get the codes?

P0700 Transmission Control System Malfunction Could not find a match for the p1100 Could it be possible that you didn't hook up a connector, sensor, cable, bent a sensor connector prong, etc. ??? |

I noticed some chatter about re-flashing my ECM...any chance that would help with getting better data from the code scanners? |

Re: 95 Blazer Transmission Codes after filter change
The code scanner itself has to be upgraded.
But for now, reset the computer like I stated earlier and drive for a week and then take it to AutoZone.

My pan was a nightmare getting out also.
I dropped the crossmemeber in the rear but tried to take the easy way out on the exhaust pipe side and just wedged the pan out. What a mistake! I broke an electrical connector off. It goes to some solenoid or I don't even know on the right front side of the trans. I will have to drop the exhaust to replace pan and not do any more damage. AAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGG |

Re: 95 Blazer Transmission Codes after filter change
i've heard from a few people that all thats needed to drop the pan is to take the two bolts that hold the tail end of the tranny on its mount and jack up the tranny till it clears. i've had al least 3 diff tranny people tell me thats the way they do it.
