Overheating 02 malibu
I looked throughthe previous posts on this and looks like some similar problems but no definitive answers.
My problem is 02 Malibu V6 runs great. Now though is overheating. No leaks on pressure test. Water pump thermo replaced about a year ago. Replaced coolant sensor, flushed system. Fans test ok. What happens intermittently is will rapidly see climb in temp into red and boils over. Can let car cool down and top off coolant and seems to be fine for a day or so and then recurrs. Any thoughts? Has 130k miles |

You may have a blown head gasket. My son had the same problem and he did not have it fixed. Now he has to get his engine rebuilt.

Re: Overheating 02 malibu
Yes that is most likely. Also check the radiator. But my bet is the intake manifold gaskets.

If you have been reading this thread, you'll know that once isn't always enough. When I replace my intake gasket, I made sure I put a good bead of RTF across the top of the engine before I placed the gasket on.
