I have a 95 integra LS b18b1, got my timing belt broken and people were asking me like $800 just to fix it an make a valve job, so I decided to get a new engine. Now, I just got a b18b engine straight from japan, with less than 40k, but the guy who is making the swap says that the intake manifold for the b18b is different than the usdm b18b1, and he is blowing his head installing the engine. Has anyone installed a JDM engine, so I can have some suggestions?

Re: JDM b18b swap???
the jdm b18b's IM looks like the b18a1's IM. the jdm b18b's IM flows better than the b18a1's and performs the same as the b18b1's. any of the IMs from the b18a1, b18b, and b18b1 will bolt right up to each other.

Yea, the jdm b18b intake manifold looks like the 91-93, but this guy is telling me that the throtle body is different and also the IM, he says is missing a sensor, something like mac sensor i dont know, I haven't had a chance to get to the shop. The worst thing is that the "mechanic" don't want to swao the intakes with old b18b1, I think that will do it right?

Re: JDM b18b swap???
the b18b is a direct bolt on. everything from the b18b and b18b1 are interchangable. unless the manifold has been fabbed using a b16 mani making it visually look like it wont bolt up, your mechanic is an idiot.
you should of done the swap yourself. its just remove and replace.

i didn't get the b18c cause is more expensive and more work on it, and just needed the car fixed at least to chill and go to work.
Now, to businness, the mechanic is an idiot I know, all you have to do if you get a JDM engine is swap the JDM Intake Manifold for the USDM and it will work. I was told by a friend, that the JDM can be installed with no problem if you have a JDM ECU and harness, because it has or doesnt have a sensor, is for the restrictions stuff, or even if you only have the JDM ECU it'll work but you will have a plug hanging, anyway you don't need it. Anyway, the motor is installed now, it runs very good, and strong, i'll try to install the JDM IM later somehow, as that one looks bigger and wanna use those JDM injectors. |
