question about fuel injection

I have a 92 mazda protege and it will not stay started unless i give it a lot of gas. one person told me that it was the fuel pump, then the mass airflow sensor and then the hose air cleaner. i am having problems with the idle going up. sometimes it starts but then it cuts off. if anyone knows the problem could you give me a little help. its not the transmission because it has recently been replaced. but i still can not drive the car. thanks for the help.

Re: question about fuel injection

This is a long shot guess, try cleaning the mass air flow sensor and the throttle body. CRC and others make an aerosol cleaner that is sensor safe for that purpose.

Re: question about fuel injection

check for a crack in the rubber air boot going to your air filter housing... it really sounds like an idle air control valve concern.... but thats just and educated guess
