Heater Hose Tube???

Ok, helping my sister out by fixing her Crown Vic. Just behind the alternator, and below the manifold, on the back of the waterpump housing there is a water hose. It appears that a couple of inches back the hose is "flanged" to a hardline or tube that I cannot tell where it goes from there. The hose portion has sprung a leak due to age.

I called the local Ford psrts guy and he said this is the Heater Hose Tube and costs $29.92 and "shouldn;t be that hard to replace." Welps, as mentioned I have minimal acces to the rubber portion of this tube/hose/thingy but have no clue as to where the other end is for complete removal. It appears that I amn going to have to remove the entire manifold to gain such access...am I right in my thinking here?
