97 lumina airbag light

have a 97 lumina. When I first start it in the morning it's fine.Turn it off 20 minutes later and then start it,and airbag light comes on,and stay's on,until the next morning. The clock, and other inside lights are also dimmer than what they should be,but when you turn key off, just before it hit's the position where you can pull key out everything gets bright.I've cleaned ALL wires, changed alternator, and replaced battery that died over this any help?

First thing to do is have the car scanned for air bag, forget AZ free scan they are not set up for this.

The ignition and turn signal switches are known porblems in these cars. With what you describe, I doubt it's an alternator. It sounds like a problem in the steering column.

Take it to the dealer.GM's factory scan tool,Tech 2 reads the airbag codes the best than the aftermarket scan tools. You do not want to do this. You could set the airbag off by mistake. It could be the clockspring but get the airbag codes read first

Re: 97 lumina airbag light

The rear lights don't come on with the DRL. Should only be high beams at 80% intensity.

Your car is posessed, or you are seriously misinterpreting something it's doing.

Re: 97 lumina airbag light

Every time I think I'm getting a handle on your problem, I find another post from you with more/different symptoms. I'm getting lost.

Maybe compose one with all the problems and all that you have done, since it started and before it started, maybe we can see a pattern.

Right now I'm flummoxed.

I do agree with rich, it's gonna be in the column, most likely.

Re: 97 lumina airbag light

you need a turnsignal/multifunction switch. Common problem on these cars.
