12-volt switched accessory wire for 2001 malibu stereo??
I'm a bit confused about this wire. I was told that I would have to hook this up to an ignition wire because the 2001 Malibu doesn't have a switches 12-volt accessory wire in it's stereo harness. I also read that by replacing the factory stereo, I would also disable the airbag systems...Is this true?????

Re: 12-volt switched accessory wire for 2001 malibu stereo??
i own a 99 i didn't have any problems with putting in a new stereo other then 2 wires.. both grey i beleive.. they where connected to your speedometer for the SCV(sound confesation volume) on your factory stereo.. if you can't tell these wires just touch your 12volt to one of them and your speedometer guage jumps.. can't be healther for car thoguht i'm averageing about 5mph off at 50mph..

Re: 12-volt switched accessory wire for 2001 malibu stereo??
I'm having a similar problem...
2001 Malibu, No Bose, No Keyless entry. I bought an aftermarket deck and the harness with the black chime box thing. Installed all, CD player works, but.... 1) Deck doesn't shut off when car shuts down. 2) No more Dash lights. 3) Service Engine light is now on. WTF? Do I have to connect my red power line from the deck to a 'switched' circuit? then, Leave the yellow as it is to the 'constant' power line? Signed, P.O.d on Cape Cod. |
