There was something like this years ago.
I saw it on Discovery channel on the show Beyond 2000. This was back in like 1991. They were using it in some shitbox econo car. Various other sounds like American V8, Ferrari... that sorta thing. I thought it was cool... when I was 9.

This is awesome
I will finally be able to get a my 89 notchback mustang with a 351 to sound like a piece of shit honda. And when every idiot honda driver looks under my hood, i’ll slam it down on their head. While their trapped in my massive engine bay, i’ll steal their wallet, and drive off in reverse! hahahah I just about shat myself when I read this comment.

LMAO...go to their site and watch the video...they wont sell many vroom boxes with their sales pitch.
"Vroom Box...the poseres edge" that is a thing FROM THEIR SITE. watch the civic vs Tc vid. what is even more funny is when he takes off with the vroom box on and it makes a fake squeal and he is moving slow but it soundsl ike he is tearing down the 1/4 mile.
