Removing putty
Anyone know a good way of removing putty? (besides sanding)
I screwed up some side skirts i was trying to scratchbuild. Can i use some sort of thinner to soften it up?

Molotov, you can usually use nail polish remover or lacquer thinner to remove most puttys. But you'll have to be very careful with both of the chemicals as they can do more damge than good to the styrene plastic. I would use a scalpel shaped hobby knife to remove most of the excess putty first, then if a file( coarse ) fits into the area I want worked on I'll proceed. The final stages are to use the nail polish remover/ lacquer thinner soaked into a cotton swab/ Q-tip and remove the rest of the putty. This works very well for me, but may not work for others. Be very careful not to apply too much to the plastic! If the styrene seems to get a bit soft- STOP! Let the stuff evaporate and air out for a while til the plastic hardens again. Molotov-you have been warned and Good luck! E-mail me for more questions. -Walter
